Zdeny Chara has been “free” to play for Liverpool this season, despite a three-match ban for racist abuse in the FA Cup third-round tie with Swansea City.

The Romanian midfielder had previously been fined £15,000 for his racist abuse of Liverpool defender Daniel Sturridge in January and the Premier League’s governing body will now have to pay out a similar fine.

Liverpool have only won three of their eight league games under the 31-year-old and have been without injured star Jordan Henderson since returning from international duty with Ghana.

They are still without a win in their last eight Premier League games under Klopp and have not won at Anfield since the 2-0 win at Stoke on September 25.

The Reds had lost four of their previous five Premier League matches, including a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on August 28.

“We can’t afford to lose to the other teams,” said Klopp.

“There are too many chances to win this game.”

The Reds have conceded just 11 goals in their past eight Premier Leagues matches and sit just five points clear at the top of the table.

However, Klopp was not satisfied with the performances from his side in the recent defeat at Norwich City, where they failed to find a winner in their opening 10 minutes.

“They played so well.

We didn’t have many chances and we had to fight for every inch of space,” he said.

Liverpool will be looking to keep their top-four position when they host Manchester City on Sunday at Anfield.”

But we have to win every match.”
